Dashboard
This app will
introduce you to the basics of pages in Domo, their hierarchy, purpose,
and options, as well as how to manage them to best facilitate access to data
insights. Organizing your Domo instance is critical, so get started
right
Standard page vs. stories
Although
both types of card pages can accomplish the same goal, they each have a
distinct look and feel. Stories allows you to fully customize your page to tell
targeted stories
·
In
standard Pages, individual users can move and resize Cards. With Domo Stories,
however, only Page owners and "Admin" users can make changes to Card
order and size. This provides a single source of truth by ensuring that all
users see the same thing in a Page.
·
Cards
in standard Pages may appear differently across different devices or
platforms (i.e. different desktop window sizes, email reports, print,
etc.). Cards in a Domo Stories Page, however, appear the same no
matter what device or platform you are using.
·
In
standard Pages, all Cards are the same size and dimensions by default. If you
want to change the size or dimensions of a Card, you must do it manually. In a
Domo Stories Page, you can choose from hundreds of different templates,
each of which contains slots appropriate for different Card sizes and
dimensions. You can also resize templates from the Page level, which changes
the dimensions of the Cards in the templates.
·
Domo
Stories cannot be collapsed as Collections in standard Pages can.
·
You
can export Domo Stories Pages to PDFs. You cannot do this with standard Pages.
Page
Feature
Page
title
The title of the
page describes how all of the cards and collections relate to one another.
Follow your company's conventions and make sure the name you choose succinctly
conveys the meaning of the page.
Page
owner
The profile picture
of the page owner allows people to quickly identify whom to contact with
any questions about a page. The owner can help if you want to know more about
any of the cards, DataSets or if something on the page isn't working as
intended.
Page access
At a glance, view
how many users with who the page is shared. Click on the number to see the full
list of users with access
Page
filters
Filter multiple
cards on a page based on values in columns or toggle on the Interaction Filters
feature to click on a card element and apply that as a filter to the entire
page. With Page Filter settings, you can customize how your users interact
with Cards on your Dashboard. You can toggle off "Allow adding of new
filters" so users can only use Card interactions to filter. You can also
turn off Date Filters if your Dashboard is built to look at a specific time
frame.
Note: Participant-level
users are unable to add new page-level filters, but are able use Interaction
Filters and edit existing page-level filters saved by Editor users and
above or custom roles with the Edit Pages grant.

Filter Views
Filter
Views allow you to customize a single Dashboard to meet the needs of all
audiences. For more information, see Applying Page
Level-Filters and Filter Views.
Filter exclusions
on Stories
With
Filter exclusions, you now have the option to exclude certain Filters from
affecting a particular Card.
Aggregations in
Filters
With
the addition of Aggregated Filters, you are now able to filter on an aggregated
column value. Aggregated Filters are available to be used everywhere Filters
are applied: inside the Analyzer, as a Quick Filter, on the Card Details page,
and on a Dashboard
Dynamic Date
Dashboard Filters
Dynamic
Date Range Filters allow you to adjust the date range window for all the Cards
on a Page. Dynamic Date Range Filters can be a huge time-saver, since users do
not need to manually apply Filters to see data for a given date or time range.
Also, with Dynamic Date Range Filters, the date range data for your Cards
automatically "rolls over" when the current period ends.
Filter cards
In
addition to using page filters to filter multiple cards on a page, you can
use a filter card. These cards are interactive and affect all the cards on the
page built from the same DataSet as the filter. To use this filtering method,
an Editor user or above must create and add it to the page.
Managing pages
Once you understand
the purpose of pages, you need to know how management works. Managing your pages is
akin to keeping your files in order, only much easier
Add a Page: Add
a new Page to your Domo instance by clicking Add a page, entering a name, and
clicking save.
Reorder: Drag and drop
pages and sub-pages to reorder your view in the Menu.
Hide and Unhide: Hide or unhide pages or sub-pages to customize
your view even further. This will only affect your Dashboard Menu view.
Rename: Rename
any page or sub-page in Domo for which you have access.
Delete Page:
Deleting
a Page cannot be done from the Managing Pages menu but rather from Admin
Settings. To delete a page,
- Navigate to the Admin Settings and click Pages.
- Find and select the Page you wish to delete.
- If you're an Admin, click Edit and select Delete Page.
- If you're not an Admin, but can still delete pages,
click Delete Page.
Turning
on Auto width:
With
the Auto-Width Dashboard setting, Dashboard content will expand to fill all the
available window space. This will allow for more rows/columns to be visible
from the Dashboard view. This is enabled on a per-Dashboard basis to allow you
to customize your Stories.
To
turn on auto width:
- On the Page you want to enable auto width,
select Edit Dashboard in the menu in the top right
corner of the Page.
- Click the Options menu in the top right area
of the screen.
- Select Auto width.
